When we lost our way

It was an adventure day out for Jin and I. We planned to meet at 3.30pm and made a reservation at 4.30pm at Laurent Bernard Chocolatier (Wessex Village). When we finally met up, it was already 4. We rushed to the taxi stand at both Junction 8 and Bishan mrt but it seems like there’s so little taxis that day! I wonder why. Maybe there’s some major event going on so all the cabs went there ):

We decided to not lose hope and took the circle line to Buona Vista mrt instead. When we reached there, it was the same scenario! Long queue at taxi stand with no available taxis on sight. Sigh. And so we decided to act smart by using gothere.sg and hopped on a bus. In the end, we lost our way (lol). We took the wrong direction and somehow ended up going back to Clementi. Hence we alighted the bus near some expressway and tried to walk under the blocks and find a way out away from the expressway.

Walking on, guess where we reached? WEST COAST PLAZA! (LOL). It just seems so amazing somehow. At that point of time, it was already near 7pm. When we checked out the taxi stand, it was still the same situation. And so, we decided to have dinner instead. Had Thai Express, satisfied tummy and went down to the taxi stand.

Good news, the line started to get shorter as more taxis came. Probably the event ended. So we hopped on a taxi and are finally on our way there (: The taxi driver was seriously hilarious. But while driving us to our destination, he kept coughing. Jin and  I were like so worried about his and our safety as a whole. As if it wasn’t bad enough, he still said that after he dropped us off, he will go for a smoke. Jin was shocked and asked the taxi driver why would he do that when he has such a serious cough. The driver replied saying that he want to fight off the cough with smoking (apparently not a good reason) but we couldn’t say anymore because it would have been kind of rude.

The taxi driver continued to share with us the three most memorable (in a bad way) customers he ever had. One was about how these girls cheated him of his money. Absurd story. When I heard it, I’m like, such people exists! Tsktsk. The other two were about how two partners were cheating on each other. Sigh. Seems like some people really need to check on themselves. The taxi driver seems pretty annoyed by that. The cheating spouses.

Well anyways, we finally reached the place at around 7.30pm. We decided to chill at the sofas outside. The restaurant gave off a cozy vibe, decorated with wooden bookshelves, straw chairs and finishing off with warmly lit lamps. Outdoors was furnished with comfy sofas. We chose to sat outside because of the cooling breeze.

The matching red pillows and white sofa.

Red daisy to match the entire layout

                 Awesome night sky

After sitting down, the staff came to give us the menus. Having read the reviews before seriously did not help us in choosing because we were spoiled with choices! After much contemplation, we decided to go along with Chocolate Soufflé ($16.50) and … some pastry I cannot remember the name (oops).

Chocolate Soufflé

If you like dark chocolate, this is for you. When we started to dig our spoons in and have our first bite, (I swear) it just melted in our mouth. The texture of it actually reminds me of the moist chocolate cake I had at Dozo except that it felt creamier. It was so addictive and we didn’t stop until it was all finished. On the other hand, the raspberry sorbet that was served with it did not really suit our taste buds. We both agreed that it wasn’t raspberry’s fault, but it just reminded us of our traumatic childhood, the taste of antibiotics.

A super awesome pastry that I forgot the name of.

It resembles somewhat of a hamburger but it tastes so much better (don’t hit me burger lovers). The ice cream (which I think was vanilla) was just nice. It wasn’t too sweet for our liking. I definitely preferred the Soufflé compared to this though. Jin on the other hand preferred this so I guess it really depends (:

Vanilla tea and Earl Grey.

When you have chocolate desserts, its definitely a must to order tea! I ordered Vanilla tea and Jin, Earl Grey (her favourite). The vanilla tea gave off a slight sweet scent and wasn’t strong in taste. Perfect for drinking with chocolate. Earl Grey was as usual strong (:x biased coming from a non- earl grey lover). Well, Jin did mentioned it was great. Coming along with it was a chocolate cookie which we really did love. It was very chocolaty and spiced up our appetite since this came before the chocolate desserts came.

Conclusion, awesome place to chill especially when you need to satisfy your chocolate cravings. Another point to note is that only come if you are driving. There is a bus stop right outside the chocolatier of course but the frequency of it is 30 to 40 minutes and it ends at around 10 plus (if I did not remember it wrongly). Otherwise, you can go to the other outlet which is the Pier.

Lastly, a little spam of photos :p

Adios! (:

“Stop procrastination”!

Hey there!

It’s been a long time since I’ve visited this place. Being the first post for 2012, it seems reasonable for a short reflection on what have happened in the previous year and state some of the resolutions I have made for this year.

2011 has been a very busy year with school work and co-curricular activities. Made some choices and suddenly I’m a free bird again (: I would not have expected it one and half years ago when I was trying to bind myself down with so many activities. Half a year, decided to quit one of them, then dropped out the next semester and now, free. Made a good choice? Not sure yet. Well, I do hope its a good choice of course.

Even though right now I’m no longer that busy with those activities anymore, I have to admit that I did learn a lot from them. Stuff that we do not learn from lectures nor textbooks. It made me realised how important it is to build good relationships with others because there’s no such thing called being impartial. Humans are made with a heart and we therefore unconsciously lean towards what we favor no matter how hard we try not to. I’m not blaming anyone out there nor pointing fingers for I am the same. Just trying to share what I have learnt.

The start of this year has been pretty slack since all I have now would be school. Nothing much to do, didn’t find a job either so have been wasting, I mean enjoying my life (laughs). Anyways, I did make a resolution which I could not even adhere to on the first few days of 2012. And that is to be punctual. Difficult huh. I wonder how do some people always be so punctual. It takes so much discipline. Right now, the only times I have been punctual would be for work. That is a definite. School or otherwise, it’s a different story.

I mean hello, how can anyone wake up so early in the morning. It has all been morning lessons for this semester. Bad news being it would continue on for the next two semesters. I know some people would be saying that they would love to be in my place since morning lessons would be you’ll get to enjoy the later part of the day as compared to afternoon classes. Morning lessons -> Go to school early in the morning, have lunch, and the entire afternoon and night would be yours to keep. On the other hand, afternoon lessons -> Wake up, go to school, try to make it home in one piece, have dinner, slack, sleep and the cycle repeats.

Sucks right? Oh well, I shouldn’t be complaining since I have the better option. Actually, right now I should be making use of the time well. Assignment deadline next Wednesday and I have not started on it at all. Not even one single word. Last week was like a (self-declared) holiday. Starting to regret it now but it’s too late. Can’t turn back time. And now I’m still wasting time (LOL).

Procrastination huh. It’s going to be sticking with me for the rest of my life unless I do something about it. New resolution then, stop procrastination (:

Got to keep to it now! Time to start on my assignment.

Have a great night guys (:

Hello-whiny (Halloween)

It feels like the end of exams. Yah right. LOL. There’s still 2 more papers to go, Employment Relations and History of Management Thought.

Today was a great break before I start studying again in the morning for the rest of the 2 modules which I’ll be tested for next week. Good news (: There’s something awesome to look forward to after exams. Guess what? TADAH!

Singapore Girls’ Generation Concert 2011 Tickets

Isn’t it cool? It still feels really surreal to me. I’m gona see the 9 of them upclose. Whoo. After the bad experience for Korean Pop Night Concert 2011, we decided to get Mosh Pit tickets this time. It was war. SERIOUS. My brother and I woke up at around 7.40am so that we can get Mac breakfast for the entire family. The schedule was actually like this:

7.40am Wake up + Wash up

7.50am Leave house to Sun Plaza (MacDonalds)

8.00am Reach home + Start eating breakfast

9.00am Get a short nap to prepare for the intense war later

10.00am IT STARTS!!!

Of course, things always do not go according to our plans and it was altered by a little. Too excited. Couldn’t nap at all. In the end, I started watching Running Man while checking the Sistic page to make sure sales is still unavailable. When it was finally 10am, the war started. My friends started calling me. Everyone tried to get onto the Sistic website but as predicted, it failed us. Server hang (: Tell you what. I never managed to get to the second step of the entire transaction process.

Many of my friends decided to help and kept spamming the page but I guess it doesn’t work that way. It’s actually pretty hilarious. Sistic made preventive measures for this to happen. The sale of the concert tickets were at another page, away from its usual official website. However, it still crashed. The second hilarious part, their own system crashed too at the Sistic counters. I mean, hello? If even YOU can’t access YOUR own system, that means something has to be done to fix all these. I guess this is the power of Sones, the power of SNSD.

I was wondering. How can it be? In South Korea, the tickets for concerts get sold out in 3 minutes. Ours not. The only reason? The server cannot handle the traffic. Too overwhelming. I guess we’ll never set a record. Well, despite all these server crashes, we attained a record of 2 hours – tickets totally sold out.

Every single one of us tried so hard online but to no avail. We thought it was the end. No matter how we tried, it was impossible. The availability of the tickets were super random. So we just tried everything we could. That dragged up till 11.30am when we realised its impossible for us to go to the concert after all. Kind of disappointed but was ready to face reality.

That was when, a ray of hope shined on us. Jin told me that Jasmine Kok is already at the Sistic counter. It was her turn. Her friend and Kin Pheng has already gotten tickets. All our fingers were crossed, actually tangled (quoting from Marcus). Prayed harder than during the revealing of exam results. And of course, we got it. It was fate I guess. Jasmine was the last person who managed to get the tickets in the queue despite her number to be 10. Amazing.

After I knew that our tickets were secured, I couldn’t go to sleep at all. Kept thinking about Dec 9. How surreal. Really. Even now. Continued to watch Running Man till it was 2 plus 3. Decided to TRY and take a nap. Worried that I’ll die of fatigue later in the evening. *sigh* Insomnia hunts me even in the afternoons.

Got dressed and went out at 4 plus. Reached Sentosa at around 6pm. Collected our tickets from the Maybank counter and started to take pictures.

Jin & I with my “superb” photo taking skills

Picked a great choice from the menu, beef burger. Although it was $16, compared to the other alternatives available, it was really worth it. Drank lychee float. Yummy. Been a long time since I drank float. Fattening D:

After that met up with the others to prepare to go in! So excited! I was really curious how would they make the USS look more halloween-ish. Since the other time I went, it was emitting a fantasy kind of theme. And I have to say I was impressed! Super :D Got some really nice glow-in-the-dark wristbands. Expected a hefty price but we got it at only a dollar!

Walked around and took so much pictures! The most scary zone I have to say was the one with all the Frankestein and other characters. Totally freaked me out. The scary part is that they will chase you if you run. I didn’t run so I guess they didn’t follow me. But it was kinda funny when you see them chasing other people.

The haunted attractions were actually less scary compared to the zones. And it seriously impacted me a lot. Those zombies. When Jin and I were on the way home, every time we saw people, we imagine them to be zombies. LOL. A little crazy but oh well.

Anyways, here are some pictures we MANAGED to take.

The other photos are taken by my friends’ cameras. Will upload again if I don’t get too lazy :P

Oh, Jin and I took the Mummy ride too. The backward motion was so unexpected. I swore everyone shouted. The other parts felt like the usual rides I took in Disneyland and others. Glad we took it since we’re already inside. Spent $0 to get on the rides. And we did try to “conquer” our fear. Somehow as I grew older, I slowly developed the fear of sitting roller coasters. When I was a kid, it was a complete different matter. Age must be catching up on me.

What do you expect? I turned 20 a couple of days ago (:

BB to BB

The power of insomnia is especially scary if you have a morning exam the next day. At the timing of 2.30am, I should have been already in deep sleep since my paper is at 10am. But I could not FALL ASLEEP at all. Seriously, I think my insomnia is at its peak level or something. How can someone try so hard to fall asleep. *rant rant* I try so hard to fall asleep and then try so hard to wake up after that again. Boo. In the end, I gave up and decided to switch on the lights and continue studying marketing.

I have never been so hardworking before. Period.

In the end, I finally manage to well, at least snooze for a couple of hours before I need to wake up again and get ready for battle! First paper, nervous much. Kept trying to squeeze all that information of 600 ++ pages into this small brain of mine. Failed terribly. Panic mode. Started to just memorize headings and trying to recall what I have tried to memorize the past few days.

On the train to school, my brother and I were like warriors. Fighting each chapter with our heart and soul, remembering all the small details, wishing that the train ride would never end. Of course, that never happened. Upon reaching school, we continued on since we still had a little time around 15 minutes. Better than nothing right? Squeeze squeeze squeeze. Information overload.

Alas, 10am. It’s time to battle with our swords and shields. 15 minutes of reading time could just be the most dreaded period before the exam starts because of the only 3 scenarios which would happen:

1. WHOOHOO. I KNOW THIS.

2. … am i taking the right paper?

3. *faints*

2 hours passed. One casualty found. Blood was shed *sigh* I can only hope that its BB to BB (Byebye to Buyer Behavior). It will be really frustrating if I’ll have to retake the module next semester. Imagine having to do the project again. Gosh. Nightmare.

Collecting HMT assignment didn’t bring good news to our grades as well. ‘PA’ *sigh* Results in a downward trend. I think after 3 years, my GPA will be 1 or something. Judging from the patterns from the past 2 semesters, 3.75 for first and 3 for second, it’ll be 2.25 for third and on.

ARGH. Need to go study for the next paper P&M. Till then!

Goodbye 3rd semester.

Know what? TIME FLIES. I think we’re all gona die soon. 2012 is coming at full speed ahead. Okay. Kidding. This is what happens when you have less then 5 hours of sleep.

Oh well. But still, its true that time waits for no man. It’s already the start of study break. Finally submitted all my assignments which makes me really happy. BUT, it means the start of study break. Which actually REMINDS me that exams are just round the corner. How prepared am I? If I were to give a rough gauge in percentage, that’ll be 10%. 10% = I know whats happening in class, just that I cannot really remember. Yes, that bad. Just 3 – 4 more weeks and I have NOT started. 3 out of 4 are theory modules. Buyer behaviour, History of Management Thought and Employment Relations. Oh wait, make that 4 if you agree that Microeconomics is pretty theory too.

Oh no.

But guess what? I ranted so much and am still not motivated to study yet. Need some people to drag me to study together!

So little time, so much to do.

Assignment deadlines and tests are just round the corner. Pretty stressed up. There’s YEN stuff to do too. Oh well. Haven’t been progressing for our business idea ): That’s pretty sad. Sigh. After test on Saturday, we’ll resume! Need to get something done. Maybe we should start a timeline or something if not nothing will move. A little procrastination going on because of school stress. No wonder some of my friends are quitting school to pursue their dreams. Well, I still see the benefits of school so I guess I won’t make that choice. Plus, I’m not so courageous. This certificate is something I can fall back on.

Study break is in 2 weeks time. Super fast. Another semester is over. If I’m lucky, I’ll be able to progress on to semester 4. This semester is really tough. So much theory to go through. Exam schedule is already out. My exams will only end at 4th Nov. Okay. I should not be complaining. It’s actually still early which means I’ll have roughly around 2 months of holidays. Time to do some stuff I really want (: I hope during that period of time, I’ll be able to achieve some dreams of mine!

Right now its more of completing school work and meeting deadlines. Oh, and successful execution of YEN event of course. We’ve put in so much hard work and effort for this. Do not want to see it all go down the drain. Boo. Time to go to bed. Tomorrow will be another exhausting day like the previous two.

Have a good night!
